Resident of the Month for March 2023 Deborah Johnson

March 8, 2023 //  by activitydir

Deborah Johnson

Deborah was born to Tom and Jeanette Babcock in Sandusky MI. She had four brothers: Tommy, Bobby, Danny and Sammy. She has two children of her own named Phillip and Michael Jon and three granddaughter’s named Mikayla, Brooke and Lizzy whom she is very proud of.

Deborah’s role model was her Great Maternal Grandmother who came across the prairie in an open wagon. She stated that she was an inspiration and the reason that she wanted to become a mother.

Deborah’s first job was working at the concession stand at the Sanilac Theater. She states that she enjoyed this job because she always got to watch the movies that were playing for free. The only drawback she states is that she was burnt by the popcorn machine.

Deborah went to college at Northern Michigan University and then took online courses from Grand Canyon University and received a Master’s degree to be a Reading Specialist. She states that the one way to get children to read who have difficulty is to have them learn their ABC’s.

Deborah states that the world events that she has witnessed was the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and the Vietnam War.

When asked what the difference between the way kids grow up now and the way that you grew up, she stated, you only spoke when you were spoken too and children’s opinions did not matter back then.

Deborah was also asked what advice would you give the younger generation today she stated: do a good job, put quality in your work and do not just get by. If you do these, you will be glad you did and proud of yourself for putting in the extra effort.

Deborah now enjoys her days at Pleasant Meadows watching tv, shopping online, attending activities and visiting with friends.
