Celebrating Our Own Veterans Today

November 11, 2020 //  by Harmony Coburn

There has been a lot of (greatly appreciated) news about healthcare workers being heroes. But the men and women who have served, many of whom make their home with us, are the people we celebrate today. Thank you to all Veterans on this special day.

Our Veterans were reminded just how special they are and that they are OUR HEROES!  Our Veterans received a special gift  and plaque and enjoyed Casey’s pizza for lunch along with their choice of Root Beer, Pepsi or Coke!  In the afternoon Veterans enjoyed some red, white and blue ice cream and a game of BINGO!

Our November 2020 Calendars are ready for viewing!

November 9, 2020 //  by Harmony Coburn

Did you know you can find our activity calendars each month on our Activities page on this website? Our Activities and Spiritual Support?

Even during these unique times with Covid 19 dictating many changes in how we spend time together, our goal is to maintain a healthy balance of physical and mental activity for each and every resident. Our activity team plans activities each month that will meet the objectives of maintaining social distancing and strict infection control practices while ensuring that each resident has the kind of love and support that makes Pleasant Meadows a home, not just a care facility.

Facility Update 10/30/2020

October 30, 2020 //  by Harmony Coburn

Dear Residents, Representative, Families, and Staff:

The health and safety of Pleasant Meadows Senior Living continues to be our highest priority and we recognize the concerns regarding coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We continue taking steps to reduce the risk of infection, there is continued evidence in Illinois and Macon County of continued community transmission of COVID-19.

We had new positive test results of Covid-19 this week. We are continuing to follow the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the state and local health departments for best practices and protocols to protect everyone’s health.

To prevent further spread of the disease, we proactively initiated and implemented infection prevention strategies and practices prior to the identification of any cases, including symptom screening of staff and residents, enhanced environmental cleaning and disinfection, and visitor screening and restriction. In addition, all staff are required to wear masks at all times, and we are closely monitoring residents for any fever, symptoms, or health status changes.

Residents who are confirmed with COVID-19 and/or experiencing symptoms will be relocated to an area of the facility to be placed on isolation precautions.

We are coordinating our efforts with the Macon County Health Department to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with our COVID-19 positive individual(s) to prevent further spread within our facility and community.

We wish to express our thanks to our hard-working staff who care deeply about our residents and are committed to providing care. We ask that the community remember our staff as we continue to work every day to provide quality care for the residents of Pleasant Meadows Senior Living.

Our entire team is committed to providing you with a safe and healthy environment. For any questions or concerns, please contact us at (217) 429 2551 or administrator@pleasantmeadows.org

Thank you,

Kathy Lientz

Happy Global Handwashing Day 2020!

October 15, 2020 //  by Harmony Coburn

2020 brings highlights the importance of hand hygiene more than any of the previous years since Global Handwashing Day was initiated by the Global Handwashing Partnership (GHP) in August 2008 at the annual World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden. You can learn more about the history of this annual event here.

Handwashing with soap and water is one of the simplest and most effective ways to stop the spread of germs and to protect the lives of your loved ones.

Guide of how to wash hands correctly

This is necessary for everyone at work and at home, here and everywhere. No matter which department you are in – Handwashing is everybody’s business.

“Handwashing is also key in the fight against COVID-19. Handwashing with soap destroys the outer membrane of the virus and thereby inactivates it. One study found that regular handwashing with soap can reduce the likelihood of COVID-19 infection by 36%.”
