Dietary Manager

  • High School graduate or equivalent;
  • Graduate of state-approved course in food service sanitation;
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in institutional food service management;
  • Able to follow and give written and oral directions;
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter;
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with personnel, Residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the general public;
  • Display leadership qualities, good communication skills, and a desire to continuously learn;
  • Other Duties as Assigned;
  • Pass pre-employment requirements;
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Duties:

Ensure quality of food and sanitation to meet or exceed all federal, state, local, corporate requirements, and do well in all compliance surveys. Work closely with consulting Dietician and nursing to maintain excellent food service. Ensure meals are prepared on time and are palatable to Residents. Plan and oversee the preparation of meals that taste delicious and look appetizing. Participate in care plan meetings to determine Residents’ dietary needs, including special diets. Check planned menus and provide standardized recipes as needed. Purchase food and general supplies. Plan and supervise special dinners and events. Assume responsibility for maintaining an adequate inventory, ordering supplies with corporate approved vendors while remaining within the established department budget. Provide customer service to Residents, families, staff, and all external customers. Function as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide quality care to all Residents. Foster self-respect and a feeling of worth in each Resident by consistent kindness, understanding, and patience in their care. Supervise kitchen staff, conduct staff meetings with all shifts to plan, coordinate, and implement departmental and corporate policies/procedures. Must attend required daily management meetings and monthly staff meetings. Other duties as assigned.
